In earlier post I ahave describe how to use your Vodafone ZTE K3570-Z usb modem with other gsm sim. Today I am posting about how to use Vodafone USB Modem with other sim using default software. Vodafone K3570-Z comes with software lock so that we can easily modify it. When you use other sim with this modem it will says invalid sim due to software lock and it is not alow you to other sim. This is just because VMB (Vodafone Mobile Broadband) software block usage of other sim. Lest's have learn how to edit in software for use of other network sim.
Desclaimer: Kindly copy the file of which I have describe here to another directory an then change in original file, so that if you might miss any single step you can replace it and try again. This will not cause any damage to your modem but have take precaution.
Install VMB lite software in your computer if you alread installed it then bydefault the directory of it will be C:\Program Files\Vodafone\Vodafone Mobile Broadband\ If you install it in other location you can check it by just by right clicking on VMB shortcut on your desktop go to property and click on Find Target button.
For an example you want to use Airtel sim on the modem for that just go to C:\Program Files\Vodafone\Vodafone Mobile Broadband\Opco. In this folder you will see a folder with your country name, for me it is India. To use other sim you have add an additional MCC MNC Code (Mobile Country and Network Code Configuration) for your other sim. To know about your SIM MCC MNC code just click here.
Edit First File:
For using Airtel you have to edit C:\Program Files\Vodafone\Vodafone Mobile Broadband\Opco\Opcos.XML first. To edit in Opcos.XML file right click on it and open with notepad. After opening file you will see below code in the file.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
........other codes here............
For changing code just copy and paste below code just between <opcos> and </opcos>
<OpcoEntry CCMNC="40492" Opco="Airtel" Country="India" Phone="9898012345" PhonePrefix="+91" TrunkPrefix="0" DisplayLocalNumber="true" />
- I use "40492" this is MCC MNC code for Airtel, replace it with your preferred network code.
- Opco stand for your Network Operator. Write your operator name instead of Airtel.
- Write your country name instead of India.
- Write your customer care number for phone. (CC number are different as per prepaid and postpaid customer in some region.)
- Write your country prefix to PhonePrefix="+91" instead of "+91".
If you want to use two or more sim just add above code for each operator again with necessary chnges in <opcos> and </opcos>
Now you have to crate 2 new configuration file into VMC on C:\Program Files\Vodafone\Vodafone Mobile Broadband\Opco\India (while changing in file do remember to change in your country file instead of India if you are not from India).
file 1 should be your sim card provider "MCCMNC Code.XML" (for me it is 40492.xml as Airtel MCC MNC code is 40492) and file 2 should be "Opco-your sim MCC MNC code.xml" (for me it is Opco-40492.xml)
Create second File:Open notepad and copy paste below code into it.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<OPCO xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"> <BuildVersionInfo> <CreationDate>2009-12-04T14:00:01</CreationDate> <VersionInfo>10.0.0.19787</VersionInfo> </BuildVersionInfo> <OpcoData CCMNC="40492" Opco="Airtel" Country="India" Phone="9898xxxxxx" PhonePrefix="+91" /> <APNs DefaultAccount="Prepaid" SwitchMarketSegment="true"> <APN Account="Prepaid" Apn="airtelgprs.com" HomeOP="" Name="Prepaid" Pass="" I="0" User=""> <AutoVPN>false</AutoVPN> <ConnectionBehaviour>Manual</ConnectionBehaviour> <Security>None</Security> <Network>AllNetworks</Network> </APN> <APN Account="Prepaid" Apn="airtelgprs.com" HomeOP="" Name="Prepaid" Pass="" I="0" User=""> <AutoVPN>false</AutoVPN> <ConnectionBehaviour>Manual</ConnectionBehaviour> <Security>None</Security> <Network>AllNetworks</Network> </APN> </APNs>
You have to replace Airtel in code with your preferred operator. The phone number can be your mobile number and change phoneprefix according to your country and save the file with name of your MCCMNC code.xml (for me it is 40492.xml) in the direcotry C:\Program Files\Vodafone\Vodafone Mobile Broadband\Opco\India
Create third file:
Open new notepad and copy the following code and save with the name "Opco-MCCMNC.xml" (for me it's Opco-40492.xml) in C:\Program Files\Vodafone\Vodafone Mobile Broadband\Opco\India.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <OPCO xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"> <DisplayNames> <GPRS>GPRS</GPRS> <G3>3G</G3> <HSDPA>3G+</HSDPA> <EDGE>EDGE</EDGE> </DisplayNames> <Features> <SavePIN>false</SavePIN> <MyLocation>true</MyLocation> </Features> <Setup> <AskReports>false</AskReports> <AskAccountType>false</AskAccountType> <AskTcpSettings>false</AskTcpSettings> </Setup> <SimActivation> <Phone>123</Phone> <Url>http://www.airtel.in</Url> </SimActivation> <UsageView> <Limits> <WWAN Data="1000" Time="1200" WarnBefore="true" WarnWhen="true" /> <WLAN Data="500" WarnBefore="true" WarnWhen="true" /> </Limits> </UsageView> </OPCO>
Change the bold url with your specific provider url in above code and you have done.
Now start using your sim with your modem and let me know if having any difficulty to using it. Or you can also use different sim with Vodafone Modem using other software. For that click here.
